3-Year Fault-Free Warranty for Aftermarket Lower Units

At Sterndrive Engineering, Inc. (SEI), we stand by the quality of our products with an unmatched 3-Year Fault-Free Warranty. This warranty ensures our customers enjoy peace of mind, knowing their investment is protected under the most comprehensive terms available for aftermarket lower units.

What the 3-Year Fault-Free Warranty Covers

Our warranty provides coverage for any damage to the drive requiring repair or replacement, including:

  • Lack of oil
  • Fishing line entanglement
  • Impact damage
  • Neglect or abuse

This warranty applies specifically to new aftermarket SEI lower units, which are designed as replacements for Mercury Marine’s MerCruiser®, Alpha One®, Gen II, R, MR, and Bravo One® stern drives. Note that SEI is not affiliated with Mercury®, Yamaha®, OMC®, or their respective trademarks.

Warranty Details

Duration and Coverage

  • 3-Year Fault-Free Warranty: Applies to assembled sterndrive halves (upper and lower) and outboard lower units (OLUs).
  • 1-Year Limited Warranty: Applies to all other parts sold by SEI.

Conditions

To qualify for warranty coverage:

  • Proof of purchase is required.
  • The product must not be altered, disassembled, or tampered with without SEI’s authorization.

Warranty claims are null and void if:

  • The product is used for racing or competitive activities.
  • The product is rented, used for commercial purposes, or intentionally destroyed.
  • Damage occurs due to improper maintenance, fluids, installation, or external factors like natural disasters.

Exclusion of Other Warranties

SEI warranties are exclusive and supersede all other implied or express warranties, including:

  • Implied warranties of merchantability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose

Our warranty limits coverage to repair or replacement of defective parts, excluding incidental or consequential damages such as:

  • Loss of business profits
  • Business interruption
  • Personal injuries

Making a Warranty Claim

Steps to Follow

  1. Notify SEI: Contact SEI within the applicable warranty period with proof of purchase.
  2. Provide Additional Documentation: Furnish any requested information to process your claim.
  3. Product Inspection: SEI will investigate and determine if the defect is covered.
  4. Product Return: Ship the defective unit, at your expense, to the designated repair facility.

Failure to follow these steps may void your warranty rights.

Terms of Purchase and Return Policy

  • Freight Charges: Customers are responsible for shipping costs.
  • Restocking Fee: A 10% fee applies to returned items that are in new, undamaged condition.
  • Delinquent Balances: Late payments incur a 1.5% monthly charge.

Venue for Enforcement

All disputes, claims, or warranty enforcement will be governed by the laws of Pinellas County, Florida, and disputes must first undergo non-binding mediation in the same jurisdiction.
